A financial manager specializing for over twenty years in non-profit organizations, Geraldine Barber Hale's skills and interests are diverse and numerous. The former secondary school teacher who went on to earn an MBA has experience in government budgeting, purchasing, and financial management. A member of the board of the Roanoke Valley Speech & Hearing Center, her professional lives have been enriched by varied community involvements, just a few of which are having been VP of the Roanoke Cancer Society board, volunteer and VP of her region's Habitat for Humanity chapter, and activist in the Roanoke County public school organization, High Schools That Work. Additionally, she has served as Trustee and Secretary for the Maple Street Baptist Church and as a supervisor of the Member One Credit Union. Ms Hale was named 2002 Citizen of the Year by the Salem/Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce, Woman of Courage by Gridiron Glamour, and Mother of the Year by the Westchester County (NY) March of Dimes. Mrs. Barber Hale earned degrees from Virginia Tech and Averett College. She is married, has 2 children and four grandchildren.
