Nathaniel H. "Trae" Byrd III, Managing Partner

Trae is the Founder and Managing Partner of Canon Capital Partners. Prior to founding
Canon Capital in 2006, Trae was a Vice President at the Citigroup Private Bank were he responsible for servicing high net worth clients in the greater Baltimore metropolitan region. Specifically, Trae led a team of private banking specialists to accomplish client specific goals and delivered salient financial advisory services to meet his clients’ needs.

Prior to Citigroup, Trae spent 6 years as a Banker with JPMorgan Chase. While at JPMorgan, Trae co‐founded a national practice that focused on serving the needs of professional athletes, entertainers and the endowments and foundations of Historically Black Colleges & Universities.

Trae has consistently been asked to deliver financial literacy presentations by various institutions to include the National Football League & the National Basketball Association. Similarly, Trae has delivered presentations to over 25 Presidents & CFOs of HBCUs discussing the impact of investment & spending policies on overall asset allocation. Trae has also been asked to speak on topics ranging from global trends in wealth management to the fundamental principals of savings and investment.

Trae received his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997.

Trae is a Series 63 registered securities representative with the NASD and is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African‐American History & Culture as well as the Bowie State University Foundation. He is also a member of the Business Advisory Council for the Comptroller of the State of Maryland.
