Vanessa EvansVanessa Evans has always had passion for working with young people. Since 2001 she has served on the staff of the Ron Brown Scholar Program. The Program awards college scholarships to African American high school seniors of outstanding promise. Many of these seniors come from single-parent homes and have overcome significant personal and financial obstacles. All demonstrate high academic achievement, strong leadership potential and an unerring sense of social responsibility.

Before joining the Ron Brown Scholar Program, Ms. Evans was the Senior Assistant Dean of Admissions at the College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA. Prior to that, she served as Assistant Director of Admissions at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, VA. In both capacities her areas of responsibility were diversity recruitment and program planning. At James Madison University she also served as Coordinator of Events & Conferences in the Student Affairs division.

Ms. Evans earned two degrees from James Madison University; a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Master of Education degree in College Student Personnel Administration. Ms. Evans serves on the Board of Directors for the National Scholarship Providers Association and also serves on the Board of Visitors for James Madison University.
