    Michael Billings, RBS 1997

    http://www.linkedin.com/in/mabtito Mr. Billings joined FPA in 2011 as an analyst for the FPA Multi-Advisor Fund (MAF). Prior to joining FPA, he was a consulting Investment Analyst at Dougan & Associates, a single-family office in Salt Lake City, UT. Previously, he gained direct investment experience at Coatue Management, a New York based hedge fund. He began his career at the William J. Clinton Foundation. Mr. Billings earned a BS in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a MS in Finance from the University of Utah. He was selected as a member of the inaugural Ron Brown scholar program class in 1997.

  • Ron Brown Scholar Leadership & Service Updates

    Ron Brown Scholar Leadership and Service (Sept. 2011)

    Jeanine Pollard (2005) graduated from Boston University's Deaf Education Master's Program last May.  She is beginning her first teaching job at the Delaware School for the Deaf. She teaches biology, chemistry, health, and earth science to 22 of the most motivated high school students she has met. Looking forward to building partnerships with local researchers in Philly and Delaware to provide opportunities for her students to answer their essential question for the year, "What do scientists do?"

    Mya Thompson (2007) is currently working as the Director of Operations for the Michael Phelps Foundation.  She is currently planning the Michael Phelps Foundation Golf Classic which will be held in Atlantic City mid-September of this year.  She loves her job and it is keeping her VERY busy. She's looking forward to learning the ropes in this new position and cannot wait for the ...

  • December 2010 Scholar Updates

    Terence Carter (1997) is happily working in the TV industry at Fox where he oversees their one-hour programming development. But in his spare time he is raising funds so that he and his wife can bring solar ovens to villagers in Mozambique this winter. Through African Millennium Foundation’s Apron Project, Terence and wife Tal are providing ten women in Maputo with solar ovens and microcredit loans so they can save the time they typically spend collecting firewood (about half their day) and instead start a small business enterprise using the ovens¬ drying vegetables or frying meats for market.

    Maria Velazquez (2000) is currently working on her doctorate in American Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park. She recently received certificates in Women's Studies and Critical Theory. Her presentation at the National Women's Studies Association garnered a great deal of positive feedback, and her work as a board member of ...
