Damian Williams was born in Brooklyn to Jamaican parents. Damian graduated in 2002 from Harvard University, where he majored in economics and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. At Harvard, Damian won the Detur Book Award, the John Harvard Scholarship, the Harris Prize, and was named the Lionel de Jersey Harvard Scholar for 2002. Under that award, he earned an MPhil in international relations at Cambridge University.
Damian has served on the Board of Directors of Human Rights First, the Council on African American Affairs, and Boys Speak Out. Damian holds a JD from Yale Law School, where he was an editor of The Yale Law Journal. After graduation, Damian clerked for Judge Merrick B. Garland on the US Court of Appeals in Washington, DC, and for Justice John Paul Stevens on the US Supreme Court. He spent two years as a litigation associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in New York. He has served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York.
