Continuing his studies at Stanford University, he received his MS in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in medical device design in 2008. After graduation, he moved to Irvine, CA and spent two years working at Ev3 Neurovascular as a Lead Quality Engineer. In order to fulfill his desire to work in the orthopedic medical device field and move closer to family in Alabama, Luis decided to leave Southern California and accepted a position at Medtronic Spine & Biologics in Memphis, TN.

As a Product Development Engineer in the Medtronic Worldwide Rapid Innovation department, Luis interfaces with surgeons to design and develop spinal instruments and implants. With a solid understanding of the medical device design control process, Luis is now focusing his attention on increasing his knowledge of the industry from a global business perspective. Therefore, he is currently enrolled in the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.

Luis is an active member in the Memphis community. He is currently in his third year as a volunteer math tutor with the Our Children Our Future program, which is directed by the Memphis City Schools. He is extremely proud of his 100% success rate with helping troubled students pass the math portion of the Tennessee Gateway Exit Exam. In addition to this weekly commitment, Luis has also participated in several community volunteer events sponsored by Mid-South Food Bank and Girls Inc.
