Nadia is a rising sophomore at Yale University. Originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, they’ve come to love New Haven’s small town vibe and unique food culture (the pizza is overrated, but the Asian food is amazing). Their first year was spent making new friends, joining a dance group, struggling academically, volunteering at LEAP (Leadership, Education and Athletics in Partnership) as a math tutor, and missing rice and their little sister.
On campus, Nadia is active in the First-Gen Low-Income (FGLI) Community, and in the upcoming academic year will be an FGLI Ambassador. This role entails developing programming, services, and projects to help support Yale’s growing FGLI community. They will also be a DEFY (Disability Empowerment for Yalies) mentor to help facilitate the transition to college for incoming first-years with disabilities. Nadia is a member of the multi-cultural poetry group Oye, the largest non-audition dance group on Yale’s campus, Danceworks, and the newly formed Ace & Aro group, a community space for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students who identify on the asexual or aromantic spectrum.
They are double majoring in Latin American Studies and Mathematics.Back to www.ronbrown.org Scholars
