Each year over 5,000 African American high school students compete for the prestigious Ron Brown Scholarship, $40K over four years. Candidates undergo a rigorous screening which involves assessment of their academic achievements, leadership experience, writing skills, commitment to service and financial need. Forty to fifty will be awarded and named Ron Brown Scholars. The remaining top 2-3% of top applicants (around 150) are named Captains and selected to join our invitation-only Ron Brown Leaders Network where they receive personal and professional development services alongside the Scholars.
You will find Ron Brown Scholars and Captains in the nation's top universities where they consistently hold significant leadership roles and carry on the Ron Brown commitment to service. Corporate Partners within the Ron Brown Leaders Network provide a trusted source of job and internship opportunities for the students facilitated through networking and recruiting activities. Our young leaders and Corporate Partners stay connected through an invitation-only LinkedIn Group, monthly webinars, regional events and our annual conferences.
